About this Episode:

In this episode of The Transformative Leader Podcast, I’m happy to bring you a conversation with David Secunda about the challenges and effective approaches relative to using technology to simplify onboarding and employee engagement, thereby freeing up leadership and HR to focus on their people. We go beyond the mechanical steps involved in onboarding employees and David talks about what it takes to engage them, whether they are working virtually or in-person. We discuss the evolving role of HR and how HR people can partner with business leaders. We also talk about various shifts in the workplace, such as the gig economy, AI, virtual work, and so on, and their implications on hiring, onboarding, and engaging employees.

David Secunda is the Co-Founder and CEO of WorkBright, an HR tech startup that moves traditional employee onboarding to a 100% remote process that workers complete before they arrive. David is a passionate entrepreneur and HR enthusiast who has been selected to serve on numerous boards and host speaking engagements across the country for his expertise and forward-thinking perspective on the changing face of the HR industry. He started WorkBright after experiencing first-hand the pain of onboarding hundreds of employees in a short time at his previous venture, Avid4 Adventure, which runs day & resident camps in the Boulder area and beyond.

He has led numerous organizations including Avid4 Adventure (Founder & Chairman, outdoor adventure camps), PlanetOutdoors (Founder & CEO, online outdoor retailer), and the Outdoor Industry Association (President). He also worked as an Entrepreneur in Residence at Mobius Venture Capital and Sequel Venture Partners. He is an active mentor in the business community at Techstars, MergeLane and the CU Leeds School of Business, and has served on the boards of Entrepreneur’s Organization Colorado, RMC Health, The SCA, and was a founding board member of Leave No Trace. Additionally, he was the Governor appointed Chairman of the Colorado Department of Human Services Licensing Advisory Committee.
