Monica Diaz is a Human Resources senior leader who empowers people to lead global brands and transform organizational cultures. She is a global architect of strategy and practice of Diversity, Inclusion, Leadership Development and Talent Management, who drives Human Resources integration and business innovation. Monica is an energetic public speaker on global D&I strategies and leadership development, a seasoned executive and the published author of a business memoir: From INTENT to IMPACT: The 5 Dualities of Diversity and Inclusion.
With over 25 years of leadership experience in global Fortune 50 companies, Monica has vast experience across multiple industries. She served as Vice President, Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer at Blue Cross Blue Shield (HCSC) and Campbell Soup Company; Vice President, Diversity, Inclusion & Wellness at ESPN Inc. (part of The Walt Disney Company), and held other executive roles in organizational development, talent management, learning, HR business partner and HR operations at Merck & Co and Microsoft. She also established her own consulting company - D&I-MD, and provided consulting, executive coaching, transformation strategy and execution expertise in D&I and HR to Fortune 50 global companies and higher education institutions.
Monica is a visionary thought leader, skilled in effectively managing organizational transformation as well as public relations issues through business engagement, advocacy organizations and professional forums. Recent public speaking engagements include the In-Forum Mosaic Women of Color (2020), Inclusion Allies Coalition (2020), Tanenbaum Religious Diversity Symposium (2019) and the Hispanic Association of Corporate Responsibility (HACR) Symposium (2019). She has also been a guest lecturer at Rutgers University and keynote speaker at the Women of Color Conference (2018)
Monica has been recognized as a Leader of Team Innovation (CTHRA, 2017), named one of the Most Influential Minorities in Cable TV (CableFax, 2015, 2016, and 2017), honored with the Multicultural Leadership Award (Tri-State Diversity Council, 2015), included as one of the Top 10 Leaders by Hispanic Executive Magazine (2014), and selected by Hispanic Business Magazine as part of its Top 50 Influencers (2013) and 100 Influencers (2011).
She currently serves as Vice Chair and board member of the Puerto Rican Arts Alliance and has served as board member and advisor to organizations that support working mothers, the prevention of relationship violence, the development of Latinas in business and others. She is an active contributor to organizations engaged in the development and career advancement of groups that are underrepresented in leadership roles, as well as equality for the LGBTQ community.
Monica earned her B.A. in Psychology (Magna Cum Laude) and M.A. in Industrial / Organizational Psychology (University of Puerto Rico). She also completed an Executive Leadership Institute program at Tuck School of Business (Dartmouth College). She is bilingual, biliterate (English and Spanish) and proficient in Portuguese. She is an advocate for health and wellbeing and an avid photographer. Monica currently lives in Chicago, IL.
