About this Episode:
In this episode of The Transformative Leader Podcast, I’m happy to be talking with Dr. Grace Lee, founder of Mastery Insights, a coaching and education company, and host of the Career Revisionist Podcast. Dr. Grace is a brain and behavior expert with a PhD in Neuroscience (not unlike a previous guest), but even beyond that, she is a career educator, quantum leap accelerator, and strategic “reinventionist” on a mission to end the separation between work and fulfillment. Through her speaking and coaching over the past 10 years, Dr. Grace has been helping professionals to reinvent their careers through a proprietary approach that integrates neuroscience and business development principles. Her clients learn to discover their purpose, decide on a career direction, build their dream career, and grow their income, all while experiencing unprecedented satisfaction and fulfillment.
Dr. Grace is definitely another kindred spirit when it comes to the marriage of professional performance and personal satisfaction, as she envisions a world where everyone is resolved to create their own destiny by building the career and life of their dreams. This is similar to the goal of Transformative Leadership to create a world where, rather than just being a source of a paycheck, the workplace is a source of inspiration to us all. In a sentiment that I wholeheartedly endorse, Dr Grace has noted that “behind every success there is a mountain of obstacles and an ocean of unfavorable odds. Everything looks like a failure halfway through. Progress often disguises itself as problems when in fact it is evidence of growth and improvement.“ Additionally, Dr. Grace has one of the most fascinating and inspiring personal stories of any guest we have ever had. She went from orphaned and homeless at around 9 or 10 years old to becoming the successful international speaker and coach that she is today, and suffice it to say, that the journey in between was an interesting one!
I know listeners will find this episode educational and inspiring, just as I did. Dr. Grace shares her insight on resilience, self-mastery, career building, and achieving success and fulfillment, so be sure to check this episode out!
Some topics discussed in this episode include:
What exactly is the idea behind the term “career revisionist.“
Dr. Grace’s journey from homelessness at age 9 to PhD Neuroscientist and international speaker and coach.
How formal education fails to address important questions about our values and identity, and how choosing a “skill stack“ is one of the first steps in building our dream careers.
How to find your purpose when you don’t even know where to start, and if you aren’t even sure where you want to go with your career.
How building a career is much like building a business, and why individuals must understand business development principles before “revisioning“ their careers.
Dr. Grace Lee is a career mentor & educator, speaker, and neuroscience expert helping career-driven professionals joyfully earn more, be more, love more and have more in their work and life. Her work is focused on building a global mass movement called Career Revisionist, a term she created to represent an identity of empowered individuals resolved to feel inspired by what they do. Dr. Grace has spoken internationally to work cultures in Asia and North America, and published in over a dozen medical journals that feature her unique discoveries to the field of neuroscience. She shares her knowledge, experience and story of resilience on her YouTube Channel and her Career Revisionist Podcast. Since I can’t do justice to Dr. Grace’s extremely fascinating story here, I encourage everyone to learn more about her journey by clicking here.
