About this Episode:
In this episode of The Transformative Leader Podcast, I’m happy to be speaking to leadership expert, speaker, author, and all around kindred spirit, John Eades. John is the CEO of LearnLoft, a leadership development company that exists to turn managers into leaders and create healthier places to work. He was named one of LinkedIn's Top Voices in Management & Leadership with his blogs and videos, reaching over 7 million people last year. He is the author of the new book, Building the Best: 8 Proven Leadership Principles to Elevate Others to Success, and he is also the host of the wonderful Follow My Lead Podcast, which has been downloaded over 500,000 times.
I got to know John on LinkedIn about 4 years ago and have been following him ever since. He’s a powerhouse in the leadership development space, specifically with respect to those elusive “soft skills“ such as self-awareness, inspiring commitment, building trust, cultivating a servant leader mindset, and so on. It was great having John on the show, and I know from personal experience that his practical insights will make a huge difference for both existing and inspiring leaders, so be sure to check this episode out.
Some topics discussed in this episode include:
How John went from professional golfing to leadership development guru.
Thoughts on why interest in leadership training has exploded in popularity in recent years.
The five leadership styles that most people fall into.
The difference between love and discipline in the context of organizational leadership, and why both are needed in today’s leaders.
John Eades graduated from the University of Maryland and spent a couple of years as a professional golfer before calling it quits to pursue his true passion, leadership development. He resides in Charlotte with his wife and 2 children. In his spare time, he stays involved with the Special Olympics.
