About this Episode:
In this episode of The Transformative Leader Podcast, I’m excited to bring you a conversation with business mentor, coach, and powerhouse entrepreneur, Stacy Tuschl, about the practices and principles entrepreneurs can apply to supercharge their results without having to constantly trade time for money. Stacy has made a name for herself as an expert in growing small businesses; she started her own business at the age of 18 in her parents' backyard and turned that company into a multi-million dollar business she still runs today. In addition to being a Small Business Growth Coach, Stacy is a bestselling author, and founder of the Foot Traffic Formula, which helps small businesses around the world get more customers in the door, more profit in their pocket and more happiness in their homes. Stacy is also the creator of the Foot Traffic Podcast and Community. Recently, Stacy was named the 2019 Wisconsin Small Business Person of the Year by the United States Small Business Administration, and she was also featured in Inc. Magazine as one of the top 10 podcasts for moms looking to grow a thriving business.
This was a great conversation with a fantastic guest. As a small business owner myself, I know how difficult—and rewarding—it can be to work for oneself. Unlike a traditional job, there are no clear guidelines on what you should be doing and your paycheck is solely the result of your hard work and ingenuity. I know from personal experience that a lot of time is spent simply trying to figure out how to move the needle in a profession for which there is hardly any formal training or preparation available. The insights and perspective that Stacy shared in this episode, and which she provides through her offerings, really make a difference in dispelling a lot of the uncertainty and stress that entrepreneurs go through, and I personally found them very helpful. Whether you are currently running your own business, or you are thinking of doing so in the future, this is one episode that you cannot miss.
Some topics discussed in this episode include:
Stacy’s beginnings as a successful serial entrepreneur, starting with teaching dance to middle schoolers in her parents’ backyard.
How assessing the work you are currently doing, and outsourcing what you don’t need to be doing, is a game-changer for taking your business to the next level.
Why entrepreneurs need to put the proper systems and people in place before moving from one revenue stream to the next, and why it is wise to gradually build these revenue streams across different periods, industries, and so on.
Some of the most common mistakes that entrepreneurs make, and how to avoid them.
The four factors necessary to keep a business growing, and why the least fun of them is arguably the most important.
Stacy Tuschl is a Wisconsin-based, 3rd generation entrepreneur who started her first business at the age of 18 in her parents' backyard and turned that company into a 7 figure business (The Academy of Performing Arts) she still runs today. Besides running her 2 performing arts academies in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Stacy has also been building her real estate portfolio and has been a landlord for over a decade. She is a marketing strategist, bestselling author of Is Your Business Worth Saving?, and the creator of Foot Traffic Podcast & Community where she helps small business owners get more customers through the door and more profit in their pocket! She is a mom of 2 little girls and married to her husband Kent.
